About

Glas - An old Irish word: (natural greens that you'd attribute to plants that are alive; all of the shades of green-blue).

Abridgment:

I created Glas Flora to help women like you have access to the finest all-natural skincare products without worrying about having a background in chemistry to read the ingredient label.

That passion led me to learn how to grow my own herbs (because I didn't like the quality coming from orders), which then snowballed into studying clinical herbal medicine for four years in a dedicated setting. And lastly because I've been a horse girl since I was four years old, it was only a natural progression to dedicate my herbal practice fully to horses and their well being. Hence, my heart was called to open The Flora Horse portion of my business.

Being an herbalist has become so important to me and I love to share that knowledge with you. It's my hope that more and more families choose to incorporate herbs for themselves and their animals. Even if you're just beginning your journey and would like to learn how to integrate herbs into your daily routine, I'm so happy you're here!

More about me:

My Grandmother, Anna was a 'Simpler' Herbalist, which is a more modern term to describe how many of our ancestors practiced the Art of Herbalism. It was knowledge that was passed down through families, not necessarily studied in a book or classroom. As the crow flies, Grandma Anna lived on a farm just outside of the Black Forest. My interest was piqued as a little girl hearing my mom tell stories of Anna surviving in those woods where for a time, the wild plants, evergreens, and mushrooms were her only means of care and nourishment. As I got older, I held those stories of Grandma Anna and the plant kingdom close. She was my inspiration, as were the fields and old apple orchard of my childhood. The plants, trees, flowers- all held a flame in my heart, and I always chose to follow their whispers. I followed that thread to later begin my herbal studies in earnest. I first studied with Rosemary Gladstar in the form of her magical home study program. (You couldn't find a more special introduction to plants anywhere, and I'm so grateful I was able to start there and spend a little time at Sage Mountain in Vermont). At Rosemary's recommendation, I then continued my studies with David Winston RH(AHG) at his Center for Herbal Studies in Washington, New Jersey, completing four years of clinical herbal study. Tammi Sweet of New York, and Sean Boylan of Ireland are also teachers that have impacted me greatly, although my time spent with them was more brief. I am currently working towards applying for Registered Herbalist Membership in the American Herbalist Guild, as well as continuing my research and studies for both human and equine clients.
